In addition to being rather complex, the practical matters of technical implementation of privacy are rather unexplored. In a recently published survey of scientific articles on privacy design patterns, we discovered 148 peer-reviewed privacy patterns in scientific literature. We classified them according to software engineering phases, implemented privacy strategies, and the solidity of their evaluation, among other aspects. We found many patterns being proposals, not empirically retrieved patterns. Hardly any patterns were available for data aggregation, and for demonstrating compliance.
